Dear Mom,

We celebrated our Christmas (Bozic) today thinking about you and Dad. We miss you so much especially for major holidays. But both of you are in our heaths and you live with us. Srecan Bozic! Your son Branko 
Branko Ten Years since my mother's passing away October 30, 2014
Today, October 31, 2014 marks ten years since my mom quietly passed away in the morning hours of that 2004. She lost a battle of life from complications of diabetes. I watched her quietly fading away as the disease was making deadly advances in spite of her strong body and great will to overcome all opsticles in her life.

To this day I miss her equally hard as in that day when she passed away. She was my anchor in life and her advices and remarks were always taken by me with great appreciation.

I will always love you and you will continue to live as long as I am alive.

Branko Remembering our Mom on her Birthday March 1, 2014
On March 4, 2014 there will be 92 years since our dear Mom was born.  She was not lucky enough to live until now. She passed away on October 31, 2004. But, every year we remember her on her birth date because she still lives in our memories.

We still love her the same as before and we miss her very much.

Branko Last Three Weeks January 9, 2014
Three weeks before my Mom's death, we invited a Serbian Orthodox priest, that both of my parents knew, to come to the hospital and perform a last communion. When Dad, my sister and I arrived with the priest at the hospital, my Mom was asleep. We slowly woke her up. Seeing the priest, she thought she had already died and that she was witnessing her own funeral procession. We convinced her that she was still alive and that this was only a prayer for her soul. She looked at us, wondering if this was real.

On October 31, 2004, Halloween in the United States, I received a phone call from my sister Milica at 7:30 a.m. She let me know that our dear mother had passed away earlier that morning, at 7:05 a.m.  I traveled to Canada by plane that afternoon to be with my dad and sister.

The viewing was held in the Kopriva Funeral Home on Lake Shore Drive, just a block from my parents' home, on Monday, November 1st. When we gave the name of her priest, the funeral home staff told us that it would not be possible to have him conduct the liturgy at her funeral because a funeral already had been held for him at that same funeral home just one day earlier. We couldn't believe it! Had he come to accompany our mother to Heaven? (We were told that the priest died from a heart attack several days earlier - this coinsidence was unbelievable!)

Our mother's burial took place on Tuesday, November 2nd, at the Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery in Oakville. It was a big funeral, and many people came to pay their respects. Her grave was covered with many flowers and wreaths. We had a lunch for family at the Swiss Chalet restaurant, located on Dundas Street in Oakville. This was her favourite restaurant and this is why we decided to go there.

That is how my mother's life ended after 4-1/2 months in hospital fighting a loosing battle against complication from diabetes. 

They say people go in threes; in November 2004, my mother's best friend from Belgrade, Mrs. Vera Stojanovic, passed away, and in December her close cousin Dr. Vera Ristic also died.

There was something very special about our Mom's passing. We often feel that she hasn't really left us at all, especially when we find ladybugs in our homes and at the cemetery when we visit. These ladybugs remind us of her, and fill us with comfort. Helen was the first who associated our Mom and her grandmother with ladybug because she gave her such nickname when she was a little girl. Our mother is still watching over us. She occasionaly shows up in my dreams and we talk. When I wake up in the morning I never remember those dreams, but I know I had them and they were very realistic.
